Chris Merz & Company Play Wayne Shorter

Virtuosic saxophonist Chris Merz has put together an All-Star cast to celebrate the music of the great Wayne Shorter.

In addition to Chris Merz, arranger and saxophonist, the Shorter Stories band features Jon Ailabouni, trumpet and flugelhorn, Anthony Williams, trombone, Bob Dunn, guitar, Mike Conrad, piano, Dave Altemeier, bass, and Josh Hakanson, drums.

THIS CONCERT IS FREE TO THOSE WHO BUY THEIR 2025-2026 SEASON TICKET BEFORE THIS EVENT.

Kid's Symphony Concert

Join us for a John William's themed Halloween concert with music from Superman, E.T. and Star Wars.

This fun, lighthearted, and funny 45-minute concert is perfect for families with children of all ages. You and your family will learn about the orchestra, how it works, the different instrument families, and what each instrument sounds like on its own. Don’t be surprised if you have as much, or even more fun than the kids. After the show, be sure to join the orchestra on stage to meet the instruments up close. This is a hands-on opportunity for anyone to ask questions to the musicians, touch the instruments, and maybe even try playing one. People of all ages will enjoy this event.

University of Iowa Kantorei

Kantorei is the premier choral ensemble of the University of Iowa, consisting of about 30 to 40 graduate students. The ensemble presents four to five concerts on campus each year, as well as a number of off-campus performances. Presently embarking on a regional tour, the choir is performing for us as the first audience on their tour!

Celebrating America's Semiquincentennial!

The United States Semiquincentennial will be the 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence. This Washington Iowa celebration will be on of various events leading up to the Declaration’s anniversary on Independence Day, July 4, 2026.

Helping us mark this important milestone, the Iowa Brass will be dedicating half of this performance to Americana and patriotic pieces with all American composers. The remaining half of the program will include contemporary ensemble pieces, ranging from Broadway works, swing, New Orleans jazz and music the band is playing in national competitions.
