Here is a coming event on the Washington Performing Arts Series
We'll see you on
SUNDAY, MARCH 3, 2024 AT 3:30 PM
A commitment to musical excellence in Southeast Iowa, the Southeast Iowa Band (SEIB) is a limited size 50-piece regional wind/percussion ensemble. Their programs present a variety of music—classical, pops, show tunes, marches, and folk music—presented in an entertaining fashion. The band is an outlet for regional musicians seeking to maintain their skills at the highest level, and for qualified high school performers. Most programs are put together in a series of 5 Sunday night rehearsals. Many of the SEIB members perform and teach professionally throughout the region. The SEIB is under the direction of Robert McConnell who first started working with the group in the fall of 1982. He often gives the audience some dialogue and occasional musical demonstrations that enhance the program.
The concert will feature thrilling themes from John Williams, the sweet, swingin’ delight of a retired University of Iowa professor, a repeat performance of Percy Grainger’s wind band triumph, and the World Premiere of a New Orelans-inspired Flute Concerto, featuring SEISO Principal Flute Rose Bishop.
Guest conductors Jilly Cooke and Jesse Deese join Robert McConnell in presenting one of the most unique concerts in all of southeast Iowa.
