Established in 1874, the Augustana Symphonic Band performs music of the highest artistic quality written for the wind band. Graduates are found in the most prestigious professional and community ensembles, as well as graduate programs. Membership provides an opportunity for the most dedicated wind musicians to continue their musical growth in a challenging, supportive environment.
This year’s tour will feature the following works: “Burning the Wicker Man” by Julie Giroux; “Be Thou My Vision” by David Gillingham; “Acadiana (Settings of Cajun, Creole and Zydeco Music)” by Frank Ticheli; “Three Dance Episodes from On the Town” by Leonard Bernstein; “On a Hymnsong” of Philip Bliss by David Holsinger; “The White Rose March” by John Philip Sousa; and “Dancing Fire” by Kevin Day. Dr. James Lambrecht is the conductor.
The annual concert tours typically alternate between regional and national. Outside the Midwest, the Symphonic Band tours on both coasts and internationally to the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain. In spring 2023, the Symphonic Band toured Japan.
This concert will be free to attend. No tickets are required.
